#1 robinhood
you get: 1 free stock worth between $2.50 & $500. (we do, too if you sign-up by clicking the picture to the left.)
we have fallen in love with robinhood because it is by far the most simple investing app that we have tried, and it allows you to purchase fractional shares. fractional shares can be a big deal for people looking to invest small quantities every now and then. for example, you may be able to save $20 this week and want to buy Apple stock, which costs around $360 per share. robinhood gives you the flexibility to invest that $20 without having to save up for a whole share of a company. |
#2 webull
webull has one of the best promotions that we've ever seen. if you deposit $100, you get one free stock between $2.50-$1400 and one between $12.50-$1400 (we will as well if you use our referral link). our friend managed to get a $400 stock so we know its possible.
the webull app has the most research on investing of any app we've used thus far. it allows you to check on your portfolio statistics and diversity from a variety of angles. |
#3 american express blue cash preferred
#4 discover it credit card
another great credit card option. this one gets you unlimited 1% cash back, plus up to 5% when you activate certain promotions. at the end of your first year, they'll match all the cash back you earned. here's our dupe: we waited for a paypal-related promotion and paid a school expense with this credit card. since there's 0% interest for the first 14 months, we'll just make minimum payments until the intro period is up, and by the end of this year, we'll have earned $80 cash back, which discover will match dollar for dollar, making our cash back total for this card $160. on top of all that, we've been able to invest the money that we would've otherwise had to use on the school expense.

#5 draftkings and fanduel
ftkings has a really interesting referral bonus. if you deposit $20, you would get an additional $20 to bet with (so would we). fanduel has a similar program, but for $10. you could use this $20 on safer bets and probably get around $20 back to withdraw back out of your account. or you could do a high-risk bet and hope to come down with $100,000.
every week of the football season we do a challenge on draftkings called 50/50 or double up. in contests like this, you essentially double your money if you finish in the top half of the challenge. professional gamblers have a win rate of about 70% as do we :) anways you could do one or two of these just to get the $20. you could also do tournament challenges. there are many free ones, like the ESPN weekly DFS tournament. we were actually able to come in first place in the tournament last year and got $50 because of it. winning a tournament challenge, where to bet $20 would usually allow you to profit around $100,000, depending on the size of the tournament. to be clear we aren't advising gambling. we have had a lot of success with fantasy football but thats mainly because of how much time we put into it. if you're not into sports betting, just use it for the free money. |
#6 simple checking account
we recently moved our checking account over to simple. the average interest rate for a checking account is .06%, which is basically nothing. simple gives you a 1.0% interest rate which is basically unheard of for a checking account.
there are a few more checking accounts that give you an interest rate like this, however they all have monthly fees and/or benchmarks you have to meet in order to waive the fees. simple has the pros of these other accounts without the the cons. |
