What is your most valuable asset?
TIME.
Time is what everyone is after. At the end of the day, we are all working so that one day we don't have to work. We all want to retire and travel the world. But here's the thing. Most people never get to experience this dream while they are still young and in good health.
Are you aware that you can buy time? You won't see an ad for time. But ironically enough, buying it is the only way to get more it.
We are constantly bombarded with ads that are specifically tailored to us. Its no surprise that we have a hard time saying NO to all of these items that can make us more comfortable or look better. The truth is that every time we cave and buy that Starbucks coffee, we're essentially forcing future us to work more.
Now on to Either Orr.
One of us is currently in dental school, while the other is full-time parenting. In other words, we have a lot of debt and very little time. However, we know a few efficient strategies to get out from underneath it. Our financial mindset is every. single. percent. counts.
Here's an example of how we working towards becoming debt free. Imagine we decide to drink water every time go out to eat for the next month. Let's assume that saves us $50. At the end of the month, we invest that $50. In 7 years that $50 is now worth $100.
*Our student loans have an interest rate around 5%. However, the stock market grows on average at a 10% interest rate. For all the non-math people out there, this means that it is way more efficient to invest any extra cash we may have, rather than paying down our loans. *
You may think its just $50. And you're exactly right. In a vacuum, this one lifestyle change will not greatly affect your life in any way. However, if you adopt this mindset for all your finances, your financial situation will drastically change.
If you also click on the apps we have listed under our free money tab, things can begin to snowball pretty quickly. As your investment accounts begin to grow, you'll start receiving dividend payments. You can use these to splurge and buy yourself something or you can just re-invest them. But hey, sometimes you gotta give yourself a reward for being willing to put that money aside. We're working towards getting enough yearly dividend payments to cover our utilities so we don't even have to worry about them.
One way we save money is buy taking advantage of promotional items. We will be listing our favorite ways to get free money to invest under our free money tab.
